About the EUYWO
The European Union Youth Wind Orchestra aims to promote young musicians at a European level through the performance of a demanding and diverse repertoire for wind orchestra. The programme includes original works for wind ensemble as well as contemporary compositions by European composers.
The EUYWO provides a platform for artistic development, international exchange and collaboration among young musicians from different European countries. By working closely with renowned conductors and professional tutors, participants gain valuable orchestral experience in a truly European context.
The orchestra stands for musical excellence, cooperation and cultural diversity within Europe.
EUYWO 2026
The European Union Youth Wind Orchestra (EUYWO) brings together talented young wind and percussion players from across Europe for an intensive artistic project at a high international level.
The EUYWO 2026 project will take place from 25 October to 2 November 2026 in Vianden (Luxembourg), under the direction of the renowned conductor Yves Segers (Belgium).
The project combines demanding orchestral work with intercultural exchange in an international setting. In addition to full orchestra rehearsals, sectional rehearsals are coached by experienced professional tutors. The rehearsal phase culminates in 3 public concerts.
Applications & Selection
Participation in the EUYWO is subject to a selection process.
Applicants are required to submit:
- Two contrasting pieces, recorded on video
- The recordings must be sent by email until April 15th to: euywo@ugda.lu
In the event of a high number of applications — particularly in certain instrument sections — final selection will be made according to the artistic needs and balance of the orchestra.
Age and Level
- Age: between 15 and 30 years
- Open to highly qualified young musicians (music students, laureates of youth music competitions, advanced amateurs or professionals)
- Applicants must play a wind instrument, percussion, or double bass
- A high technical and musical level is required
Admission Fee
The admission fee amounts to 400 €.
The fee must be transferred after acceptance into the orchestra.
